What you may not know about the Co-op Store and the textbook process.

ü      We are a not-for-profit store owned by all students and those faculty and staff members who pay an activity fee.

ü      All proceeds are returned to the student fund, which are then used to fund all student activities, groups, speakers, concerts, athletics, and other activities around campus.

ü      Last year the Co-op Store returned over $625,000 that would have been paid by the student body with higher activity fees.

ü      We currently price our textbooks below the national average.

ü      The Co-op Store guarantees the lowest textbook price against all local competition.

ü      Used books save the student 25% off the price of a new textbook.  This saves students money and helps make their college expenses a little more affordable.

ü      Order deadlines may seem to be early, but we have found that the competition to acquire textbooks is increasing.  Many publishers try to limit inventory as a way to control costs and this creates shortages when orders increase above their expectations. By placing our orders early we have a better chance of having all textbooks in stock for school opening and decreasing any problems for you and your students.

ü      Early order deadlines also allow for more flexibility in finding and fixing problems that may occur such as new editions or reprintings.  Every day missed after the deadline means an increase in the chances that the book may not be available for students at the beginning of classes.

ü      Books purchased on line are not necessarily the same as the title ordered by the faculty.  They may be old editions, damaged, international editions, missing pass-codes or other information that is required for the class.

ü      Please make sure that textbook bundles are necessary for the class and students.  While bundling of textbooks and other items together may make sense to you, students resent the higher cost they must pay especially if those extra items are not used or discussed in class.  While publisher representatives may state that the extra books, articles, and CD's are free, they actually are included in the cost price of the textbook.

ü      Please remember to do book research early and follow-up on notices from the bookstore.

ü      If a book is optional, please let us know so we can inform students and place orders accordingly to limit expenses.
